This is what outreaching and running ads that ask for an immediate purchase are - because if you don’t close the client straight off the bat, then it’s almost impossible for you to close him again the next day or the week after.
Most businesses tend to run on one-step lead generation all day, everyday and don’t get to move onto two-step lead generation…
…sounds super fancy, but it’s simple, I promise.
Two-step lead generation is like dishing out a net into the ocean and waiting for it to fill up with fish, then bringing them up once they’re caught. This makes it an almost impossibility to not catch the fish, and not just one fish…
…but hundreds, THOUSANDS.
Again, apart from the fishing part - this is what two-step lead generation is like.
You’re probably subscribed to a few email newsletters that send you emails every couple days, that’s them trying to sell you something - they’ve moved to two-step lead generation.
One-step vs two-step lead generation.
Let’s go over the pros and cons of one-step and two-step lead generation, then discuss which strategy is most adapted to your business model.
Starting off with one-step lead generation, it’s effective and it has the potential to close clients with more speed. However, one-step lead generation requires metric tonnes of energy, it’s like having a second job and it can also take a while for you to even start getting replies.
With two-step lead generation, it’s easy, simple, effective and also has the potential to increase your sales by tenfold if you do it effectively. And unlike one-step lead generation, two-step has almost no downside - it’s free, quick and extremely simple.
But how do you do it?
Again - simple. Just find a small problem that the majority of your current clients are facing, create a solution telling them how to fix it and then tell them that you solve that problem for them.
One of my favourite quotes…
“Show them the sauce, give them the sauce, then get them to pay you to cook with it.”
I don’t know who wrote that, I just remember hearing it somewhere and it’s extremely right.
Then once you have this solution, put it onto a document or record a video solving the problem, offer people this solution in exchange for their email address - then send it to them and there you go.
You’ve started your two-step lead generation process and you’ve made it further out into the business world by using this simple strategy.
“Why does this even matter? Why do I need their email address?”
Because that’s where you get paid! Once you have their email address, you can effectively pitch them whatever you want, whenever you want, forever.
However, actually setting this up…
